How To Add A New Bluetooth Device To My Computer – Windows 8 and 8.1

Windows 8 and 8.1 Blue Tooth Set Up

  1. Set up Bluetooth using a PrimeTest 300 as an Example
  2. Make sure you’re using an approved Belkin adapter or an inbuilt laptop Bluetooth adapter.
  3. If using a Bluetooth adapter plug in the Bluetooth adapter into the USB port
  4. Let the device install software (automatic via Windows 8)
  5. Bluetooth icon will appear in system tray 
  6. Right click on icon, click open settings
  7. Under discovery, click Allow Bluetooth devices to find this computer

  1. On the PrimeTest 300, click configuration -> Bluetooth favourite.
  2. Scroll down to computer, click setup
  3. Click Search, wait for the PrimeTest 300 to find your Belkin adapter
  4. Your PC name will now appear in the “New” field
  5. Under PIN Number: Enter 0000, this seems to help the pairing process
  6. Hit Enter
  7. Hit Add New
  8. Under “Computer” you will now see your machine name (i.e. Hordern-07)
  9. Hit OK
  10. Hit OK again, to take you back to the main screen
  11. Right click on the Bluetooth icon on your PC and click Add a device, wait for a bit and the PrimeTest will show up:
 

Select the PrimeTest and click "Pair"
  1. Click Enter the device’s paring code
  2. Enter 0000 hit next
  3. The device is now added to your Bluetooth Devices list
  4. Right click on the Bluetooth icon click Open Settings
  5. Click COM Ports:

If there are no incoming ports listed click add. If there is an incoming port here, record the COM port number
  1. Click add
  2. Click incoming
  3. Click OK
  4. Wait for the device driver software to install and record the COM port number
  5. On the PrimeTest 300, click Data Transfer -> Download to PC -> OK
  6. The device will say waiting to connect
  7. You are now ready to open the COM port on your PC and start the transfer in PATorgansier
